Motivation can be several things to several people. To some, money motivation is the ultimate while to some others; money motivation is just a secondary stuff. I have come to realise that money motivation is not really a motivating factor as money comes and goes. What really motivates people into action is the desire to impress. Yes, the desire to impress people around is what really sparks the light of motivation in us human being.
I was opportune to interview some successful wealthy men in my community about their view on money motivation. 75% of them agreed to the fact money is a motivating factor but made their stand known that money is not the real man behind the mask.
The other 25% of the interviewee out rightly disagreed and vehemently said that money is never a motivating factor. One of them even went ahead to say that money discourages her from doing what she ought to do. Can you beat that? A situation whereby money becomes what will make one not to work.
Seriously speaking, money shouldn’t be a major factor to consider in the area of motivation. People should learn to think beyond the immediate and think of the potentials in virtues, honour and respect that money cannot buy. A young man who was recently released from the prison for violating the law confessed of not being influenced by the money involved in what he did but for the love and affection he hoped to gain by doing what he did.
This will further convince you that money motivation is not all that we need to get motivated and remain motivated.
Be positively motivated!

SELF EMPLOYMENT: MOTIVATION OF THE SELF EMPLOYED
The phrase self employment is enough to cause heart attack to many people who only sees obstacles and difficulties that are associated with one being self employed.
Unknown to this category of people is the fact that we are all self employed irrespective of what we do. This assertion is based on simple logic “we do all that we do because of the following reasons:- we set goals, we accept the responsibility for executing the goals, and we make enough commitment to do so.” If you doubt it, do away with these 3 qualities mentioned above and see yourself back on the street.
Qualities of self employed people
A research I carried out revealed to me that all self-employed individuals (entrepreneur) has seven (7) things in common
• They set goals
• They are punctual
• They are self starters
• They take responsibility
• They are goal getters
• They are committed
• They are resourceful
The combined forces of the above seven (7) qualities gave birth to motivating factors that gets self employed individuals motivated and kept them motivated. Those factors that ignites the motivation (encouraging factors) within all entrepreneurs – which you are one; are listed and briefly discussed below:
EMOTIONAL FEELINGS
Emotions are the strongest factors that motivate people. love for instance is one emotion that is capable of making someone move mountains. The reason behind this is not far fetched- people want to impress their loved ones. Most successful entrepreneur that I have ever spoken with plainly told me that their emotional feeling contribute greatly to their success.
Other emotionally controlled feelings that motivate self employed people are: pity, hate, jealousy, feeling of revenge, etc.
PRESSURE/ CONSTRAINT
Another factor that motivates those in self employment is pressure/ constraint. A friend of mine once said that he thinks better and smarter whenever he is under pressure or is constrained by prevailing situation. An entrepreneur with limited capital for instance gets motivated to go out looking for sources of finance.
THIRST FOR RESULT/ PRODUCTIVITY
On the average, people are generally motivated into action if they hunger for result or are eager for productivity. As you already know, self employed people are result oriented people therefore are motivated to get results even when the situation seamed hopeless.
OPTION-LESS SITUATION
Self employed individuals realise that they have no choice in their dealings when to success. The fear of being faced with the ugly consequences of not performing their duty as at and when due as entrepreneurs acts as a motivating factor that catapult them into greater height. This is one situation where I encourage people to leverage from the positive effect of fear.
The quest to protect their self image and ego drives most self employed person to do the extra ordinary.
As entrepreneur, you need motivation on a constant basis. Instead of looking motivation where they are not, I encourage you to allow the points raised and discussed in this article are followed with passion.

EMPLOYEE MOTIVATION TECHNIQUES; HOW I MOTIVATE MY EMPLOYEES
Motivating employees is the primary focus of every manager and business executives in today’s highly challenging business world. The competition landscape in the business community is so heated that without properly motivating your employees to bring out their best, you will be sure of closing shop sooner or later.
Employee motivation techniques are not mathematics and have no formula that can be applied to get automatic result. Employee motivation technique is different thing to different people. What motivates my employees may not be enough incentive to motivate your company. What you are about reading here are all what has worked for me in my company.
MOTIVATING YOUR EMPLOYEES
Below are tips on how to motivate your employees:
Adding value to their overall lifestyle: I ended up motivating the sales team of my staff to grow our sales by over 47% in the last quarter of last year simply by inviting speakers to give them lectures on personal finance and show them ways to make investments and grow their money. They felt that I have their personal welfare at heart and this made them to work even harder to kinda repay me for adding value to their live. You see, you can’t beat this kind of motivation for employees. If you were to be one of my employees, wouldn’t you rather give in your best for the betterment of my business? I bet your standard answer will be ‘surely I will’.
Wetting their appetite for success: making your employees feel what it tastes like to be successful is a powerful way of motivating them to give in their best even at their own detriment (this shouldn’t be the case anyways, as you are meant to ensure the safety of your employees). My method is to regularly distribute books written by success people in their respective careers discussing the obstacles they met and how they were able to handle them. Some of my favourite authors are: Ben Carson, Zig Ziglar, Robert Schuller, and Robert Kiyosaki. I remember a member of my restaurant staff developing reading habit after reading ‘gifted hands by Ben Carson’. This is a powerful employee motivation technique that you too can employ to work in your favour as far as motivating your employees is concern.
Setting a realistic goal: goals are what you need to spark up the sleeping giant in people. Care should be taken here not to set a too high goal that is unrealistic. Unrealistic goals will only dampen the motivation of employees further.

Show interest in their personal life: Ask them about their family members when before they resume duty in the morning. Make them feel you care so much about them and they will surely repay you back in the same coin.
Employee motivation techniques are methods of motivating employees into bringing out in them and make them burst with motivation.
Like I said before, you can tweak these suggestions a bit to give you the desired result as what work for me may not work for you.

WHAT IS MY MOTIVATION?
What is my motivation is a question that is constantly posed by many that are yet to find their true self. Have you ever sat down to ask your self this question? If you have not, then you have the chance to ask yourself this question now. Self discovery is a must achieve virtue for everyone that is seriously looking for motivation. You cannot be in the open and expect to be sheltered. Same applies to motivation, you cannot know what your motivation is if you don’t firstly discover yourself.
Before you can ask your self the question of what motivates you, you need to firstly know what motivation is. Motivation is a relative term whose meaning is heavily influenced by the definers’ perspective. If you are the type that believes in Money Motivation, then, motivation in your dictionary will be synonymous to money.
Generally speaking, motivation is any moving force that makes us to search deep and bring out the best in us no matter what circumstance. This presupposes that motivation does not have to be afraid of anything whatsoever.
Interviews I had with successful people revealed to me that they all have one trait in common; they are fearless. Motivation cannot live in a fearful environment. Hence, another step towards finding motivation is to get rid of destructive fears. Though we all need certain amount of fear to get motivated, but, too much of fear would be more detrimental than useful. You need motivation to excel in the face of economic meltdown
LOST MOTIVATION shouldn’t be an issue if; we discover ourselves and reasonably eliminate harmful fears. Again, take time to find out reasons for lost of motivation as this will help you excel in life.
